The University of Texas at Tyler Department of Art and Art History proudly announces two Spring 2018 bachelor of fine arts exhibitions featuring paintings and sculpture in varied mediums.

"This group of graduating seniors have intriguing stories to tell and views to share, and they express them beautifully through their artwork," said Michelle Taff, Media and Gallery Coordinator. "We welcome students and visitors to enjoy these exhibits, which are in partial fulfillment of the UT Tyler bachelor of fine arts degree."

"Honest Perspective" opens Monday, April 9 at the UT Tyler Fine Arts Complex Gallery. Featured degree candidates are Lauren Pitre of Mineola and Madison Branch and Kayla Reesor, both of Longview.

Branch's oil paintings show multiple views of the same form, which produces a sense of movement and dynamism. Pitre paints serene still lifes in acrylic. Reesor creates ceramic sculpture that expresses the coping mechanism of Dyslexia, as well as Dyslexia in her personal view.

A public reception with artist talks will be 6 p.m. Thursday, April 19 at the gallery. The exhibit concludes Friday, April 20.

"Moments of the Temporary" opens Monday, April 23, also at the UT Tyler Fine Arts Complex Gallery. Featured degree candidates are Timothy Benson of Whitehouse, Kailan Counahan of Rusk and Sam Edwards of Longview.

Benson builds ceramic sculpture that gives a nod to both the past and ancient American culture. Counahan's cast aluminum and bronze sculptures are heavily influenced by the natural world and the forest floor. Edwards creates paintings that reflect the beauty that is often overlooked in nature.

A public reception will be 6 p.m. Thursday, April 26 at the gallery. The exhibit concludes Friday, May 3. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and by special appointment. For more information, contact Taff, 903.566.7237 or mtaff@uttyler.edu.
