The University of Texas at Tyler recently announced that the 32nd annual Patriot Classic raised more than $110,000 to benefit the university's scholarship program.

"The scholarships that are made available through the Patriot Classic help students spend more time and energy focusing on their studies," said Orrie Covert, Vice President for Advancement. "We thank everyone involved in the 2018 Patriot Classic. The fine work of the volunteers and participants has made a significant contribution toward student success."

This annual fundraiser includes the Patriot Golf Classic and Southside Bank Patriot Million Dollar Hole-in-One contest. Jason Gregory and Aaron Uncapher served as chair and co-chair, respectively, of the Patriot Golf Classic. The Hole-in-One events were organized by Allen Clarida, president, and Denver Dyer, chairman.

"We have a first-rate university right here in our backyard, and I can't think of a better way to give back to the East Texas community and UT Tyler than with the Patriot Scholarships," said Gregory. "These scholarships help students get a quality education and inspire them to give back to the community themselves."

With the addition of this contribution, the UT Tyler Patriot Golf Endowed Scholarship fund currently stands at more than $2 million raised for deserving UT Tyler students.

A member of the prestigious UT System, The University of Texas at Tyler focuses on student success and innovative research in the more than 80 undergraduate and graduate degree programs offered. With more than 10,000 students, UT Tyler has facilities in Tyler, Longview, Palestine and Houston.
