The University of Texas at Tyler announced the opening of an art exhibition at Meadows Gallery featuring the work of 20 leaders in contemporary art education and research.

The featured works are by guest faculty from another institution, presented by the UT Tyler Department of Art and Art History. A public reception will be held at 12:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Meadows Gallery. The exhibition continues through Friday, Nov. 16.

"Each year we bring in visiting professional artists to exhibit in our gallery, and often these artists are faculty members from nearby universities," said Michelle Taff, gallery and media coordinator.

"This serves two important purposes with respect to our students,'' she said. "It expands the scope of their art education and experience by introducing new concepts and techniques currently being used by other artists. Secondly, it provides an avenue for connection with local art communities and an opportunity for networking with other professors and students."

The featured artists include David Andree, Maryamsadat Amirvaghefi, Adrienne Callander, Neil Callander, Jon Cromer, Dylan Dewitt, Rebecca Drolen, Vincent Edwards, David A. Gibbs, Alexander Hanson, Adam Hogan, Jeannie Hulen, Eli Kessler, Sam King, Marc Mitchell, Sean Morrissey, Kristin Musgnug, Kasey Ramirez, Anthony Sonnenberg, Bethany Springer and Cindy Wiseman.
