Dr. Neil Ford, professor of biology, recently held a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality mussel training at UT Tyler.

During the meeting, Ford trained officials in the identification of the freshwater mussels as well as survey techniques.

Ford has given over 50 presentations at scientific meetings and has been invited to present 20 talks at universities and scientific meetings. To date, he also presented numerous symposium talks and organized six national and international symposia in his field of research.

He holds a Ph.D. in zoology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Ford currently serves as director of the ophidian research colony on the university's main campus.
