Andres Fernandez of Klein, a UT Tyler junior electrical engineering major, has received a $1,000 scholarship from the Texas Space Grant Consortium for the 2008-09 academic year, Dr. Kazem Mahdavi, professor of mathematics, announced. "This is the first time that one of our students received this scholarship," said Mahdavi, who serves as UT Tyler’s TSGC representative. The Texas Space Grant Consortium consists of 36 institutions which include universities, industrial organizations, non-profit organizations and government agencies within Texas that are joined to ensure that the benefits of space research and technology are available to all Texans.
