Dr. Marilyn Young, professor of management, recently completed two research projects. The 2008 Labor Market Survey for the Tyler Economic Development Council's study was based on 600 telephone interviews within a 30-mile radius of Tyler. Numerous aspects included labor market availability, wage requirements, training, underutilization, and demographics.
"The information should enable employers to make more informed and rational decisions regarding expansion and investment in the East Texas area," Young said.
The 2008 Wage and Benefit Survey for Kilgore Economic Development Corp. provided salaries on 59 occupational titles and the nature of benefits such as time off, insurance, incentives, seasonal employment and retirement. The survey was based on a mail questionnaire from Kilgore organizations.
