UT Tyler senior history major Norris White Jr. of San Antonio recently published a book of poetry called "Straight from the Heart."

Published by Pecan Grove Press, the book explores African American cultural issues, according to White. He currently is preparing a second book of poetry for publication and plans to enter a national writing competition.

White will graduate in December 2009. After graduation, he plans to pursue a master's degree in European History and become involved in historical resource management and preservation. He and his wife Lee have two sons.
