Dr. Ali Azghani, associate professor of biology, has been selected to review grants for the American Heart Association.
As a reviewer, he will judge and grade the assigned grant applications based on their scientific merit and will provide a critical review of the projects according to the AHA standards. The consortium steering and peer review committees will make their final decision on the awards in a meeting in April 2009.
"This selection is a great honor and an opportunity to serve the agency in their support of clinical and basic research," Azghani said. "As a previous recipient of an AHA grant, I attest to the impact of these awards on the continuum of the individuals’ research efforts and development of novel therapeutics."
According to its Web site, the AHA is a national nonprofit health agency whose mission is building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
