admission or March 1 for Fall admission. Application

must be admitted to the University before you can be
considered for nursing)
Admission
to the College of Nursing (CON)
Obtain information on nursing program from the College
of Nursing (CON) - 903-566-7320.
Appointment
with nursing advisor (903-566-5534) for appointment),
if needed. Unofficial transcripts may be used
to do the initial evaluation.
**All
active military personnel must contact the pre-nursing
advisor before applying at (903) 565-5534.
Provide catalog course description, syllabus and
other support materials as needed for any courses requesting
equivalency or transfer credit. IT IS THE STUDENT'S
RESPONSIBILITY TO INSURE PREREQUISITES ARE EQUIVALENT.
Complete and sign the College
of Nursing Application

page to access ) and mail to the College of Nursing
by the deadline: March 1 for Fall admission and October
1 for Spring admission.
Furnish
the College of Nursing with copies of all transcripts,
these may be unofficial. This step needs to be completed
even if they have been submitted to the Registrar's
office.
GPA
on core curriculum and nursing prerequisite courses
is 2.75 (4.0 basis) or higher. See brochure,catalog,
or CON web site for required courses. Based on
58 hrs. of pre-requisites only/not overall GPA!
____For
the Generic and LVN-BSN APPLICANT: The
NET (Nurse Entrance Test) is required
as a prerequisite for admission. Call (903) 565-5994
for scheduling information for Tyler, (903) 663-8105
for scheduling information at the Longview Center and
(903) 727-2300 for Palestine. There is a testing fee
of $60.00 which is non-refundable and must be paid prior
to testing. Testing should be completed one (1) semester
prior to entry into the CON. The assessment may be taken
through UT Tyler or at any other nursing program offering
the same exam. A copy of the results must be submitted
if taken at another facility. NOTE: A testing fee will
be charged prior to the first semester of nursing to
those students completing the NET at another facility.
ALL APPLICANTS
MUST SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION:
Copies of CPR card, Hepatitis B series, current
TB Skin Test, MMR (or rubella titer) & Tetanus/diphtheria.
RN OR LVN APPLYING TO THE MINE TRACK MUST SUBMIT:
Letter
from employer verifying length of employment as licensed
nurse for last 1 year.
Copy
of current nursing licensure and CPR.
If
diploma graduate, copy of diploma and hospital transcripts
if applicable sent.
NURSING MAJORS TRANSFERRING
TO UT TYLER
Letter
from previous Dean/Director of nursing program sent
to the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Nursing Programs
in the College of Nursing.
NOTE: If you are currently, or have ever
been enrolled in any nursing program, you must submit
a letter from the current dean/director of the program
to verify current academic standing in the program and
immediate eligibility to return to the program.
Nursing
course syllabus sent for evaluation of credit to the
Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Nursing Programs in
the College of Nursing.
NOTE: Nursing transfer students who wish
to have completed nursing course work evaluated for
possible transfer into upper division courses at UT
Tyler must submit nursing course syllabi for review
by the CON prior to consideration for admission to the
program.
RN-MSN APPLICANT
Submit official scores from GRE, MAT, or GMAT (GRE or
MAT for MSN Track in Administration, Education, or Nurse
Practitioner; take GMAT if pursuing MSN/MBA Degree Track).
College
of Nursing Application

all transcripts, graduate application.
Letter
sent to College of Nursing from employer (official letterhead
from manager, supervisor, or Human Resource representative)
verifying length of employment as licensed registered
nurse for the last year.
If
diploma graduate, copy of diploma and hospital transcripts,
if applicable, sent to the CON.
Four
(4) letters of reference (forms provided by the CON),
two (2) professional and two (2) academic. May
submit additional if desired.
International students must submit additional documentation
required by the Admissions Office. It is the applicant's
responsibility to meet the Admissions Office requirements.
