What
is the "Virtual Classroom" Experience?
The
"Virtual Classroom" Experience is a conference
sponsored by the University of Texas at Tyler College of
Nursing and Health Sciences and developed by the faculty.
The program is celebrating the completion of extensive enhancement
of online courses offered by the College of Nursing. The
enhancement project was funded by a grant offered by the
Sid Richardson Foundation to Drs. Gloria Duke & Carol
Kilmon, Nursing faculty. The main goals of the "Virtual
Classroom" conference are to present current and innovative
material on the development of online educational components
and to fulfill the continuing education needs to nurses,
faculty, and various health care professionals.

What
are the conference objectives?
- Present
current and innovative instructional material,
introduction to teaching techniques and methods for teaching
via the Internet.
- Identify
the content, skills, methods, and technical expertise
needed
to guide the nurse/other educators/faculty in developing
virtual educational experience(s) that bring the latest
instructional methods and content to distant learners.
- Provide
networking opportunities to
participants that will act as instructional resources
to aid in the development and understanding of internet
courses, and that will make available needed post-conference
educational/technical support.
- Showcase
the application(s) of on-line teaching/learning strategies
and resources that can be used by the participants to
create, publish, deliver, and evaluate on-line courses
including instructional formats, models for on-line instruction,
best practices, "NET Etiquette", E-resources,
E-reserve, virtual skills labs, tutorials, streaming videos,
and educating with movies.

Fees
- $175.00 per
person per day
- To qualify
for a discounted fee of $150.00 per day-per person, the
participant must attend both
days
- Three or
more individuals from the same organization attending
may qualify for an additional discount of $10.00 for both
days by submitting separate registration
forms in the same envelope at the same time

fee includes all conference sessions, materials, refreshments,

Refunds:
The University of Texas at Tyler will issue refunds
for requests received in writing by October 1, 2003. For
written requests after October 10, 2003, The University
of Texas at Tyler will issue the participant the submitted
fee minus the fee(s) for meals/refreshments
for each day registered.

Exhibits
& Academic Credit
The
University of Texas at Tyler College of Nursing faculty
will be exhibiting faculty developed research projects,
poster presentations, various programs, instructional aids,
and recent publications. Vendors
with computer-enhanced software programs and publications,
current equipment supporting computer learning, and others
have been invited to display wares for the enjoyment of
participants. Academic
Credit:
- 11.7
Contact Hours will be given for the completion of both
Day I & Day II of the conference (Day I: 6hrs.;Day
II: 5.7hrs.)

Nurses Association Continuing Education Credits (CEU)
