My program of research broadly focuses on health promotion for persons with chronic illness. Within that philosophical perspective and umbrella, I conduct research on the concepts of self-efficacy, physical activity, symptom management, and quality of life for persons with cancer. My current research project is titled “Effect of Exercise during Adjuvant Chemotherapy Infusion for Breast Cancer” Barbara Haas & Cynthia Osborne, co-PIs, Kevin Gosselin, Gary Kimmel , Joyce O’Shaughnessy, co-investigators.

Thoughts on Teaching:
I view myself as a fellow traveler on a journey of discovery. In my 20+ years of academic travels, students have enlightened me repeatedly. The opportunity to awaken curiousity, stimulate ideas, challenge thinking, encourage dreams, and inspire -- these are the privileges of a teacher-student relationship.
