Iota Nu Board Plans for the Upcoming Year
It’s hard to believe that the month of January has just flown by. The Iota Nu Board held a “mini-strategic” planning meeting on Jan 7 in an effort to prepare for the upcoming year. Elections for the positions of President-Elect, Secretary, Junior Counselor, and Leadership Succession are scheduled to be held in March. (See attachment for a description of officer roles and responsibilities.) We are fortunate to have so many great leaders within our chapter. We encourage every member to consider running for office and we challenge everyone to contact at least one person that you think would be a good fit for a position. Applications for Leadership Intern are due April 1. The guidelines, benefits, and application are posted on the Chapter’s Website. “Relay for Life”, one of Iota Nu’s designated service projects, is slated for April 9 from 7pm to 7am at the Robert E. Lee High School Practice Field. Lynn Summers has once again graciously agreed to coordinate our chapter’s involvement with this worthy project. Just think if even one-fourth of our membership came, we would be a force of which everyone would take notice! “Iota Nu Rocks!” Our Guatemala School of Nursing (SON) task force is in the planning stages of hosting a nurse educator from the SON for our Spring 2011 research conference. We would appreciate any assistance with this project. This will be a wonderful global networking opportunity for our chapter, not to mention through such projects we are helping STTI achieve the “Vision 2020” goals. Finally we are in the midst of planning a very special awards event on May 13. Please save the date and be on the lookout for further details. Helene Hakim, President.

Biennial Convention: Iota Nu Earns Chapter Key Award!!
In November 2007, President Barbara Haas, President-elect Helene Hakim, and Past-President Carole McKenzie were in Baltimore to attend the 39th biennial convention and accept the first Chapter Key Award for Iota Nu! This extraordinary achievement was due to the hard work of many, many members and our secretary, Lynn Summers, in particular. Lynn put together an outstanding application that highlighted the chapter's achievements during the 38th biennium.
