Transfer Orientation

Students transferring from another institution of higher education and re-entering college students have different needs and concerns from first time college students.  With that in mind, we created an orientation program specifically for transfer and re-entering students to welcome them to UT Tyler and prepare them for life as a Patriot.  Please see the information below, and if you have any further questions or concerns contact the Office of Student Life & Leadership at 903-595-5645 or orientation@patriots.uttyler.edu.

When is Transfer Orientation?

Transfer Orientation will be held on Friday, January 8.

Will I be getting anything in the mail?

All transfer students who have been officially accepted to UT Tyler should receive a letter regarding Transfer Orientation.

Is there a cost for Transfer Orientation?

No, there is no cost to attend Transfer Orientation.

Do I need to register in advance for Transfer Orientation?

Yes. Please call 903-565-5645 or email orientation@patriots.uttyler.edu to confirm your attendance.  Be sure to let us know your major, phone number, and new Patriot email address.  You may also download the registration form and fax or mail it to our office. 

Will I be advised during Transfer Orientation?

No.  We recommend that all students schedule an appointment with an academic advisor as soon as possible.  If you are a transfer student with 29 or fewer hours, you are considered a freshman transfer student and should contact the Freshman Academic Advising Center at 903-565-5718.  If you are a transfer student with 30 or more hours, you are considered an upperclassman transfer student and you should contact your academic advisor to schedule an appointment. 

Is Transfer Orientation mandatory?

Transfer Orientation is not mandatory, but we highly recommend that you attend. 

What will I do at Transfer Orientation?

Transfer Orientation will provide you with an opportunity to learn about the services and resources available at UT Tyler, meet your department advisors, tour the campus, and complete university business such as getting a parking pass and student id.  A sample schedule for Transfer Orientation is listed below:
