UT Tyler New Patriot Orientation
Students transferring from another institution of higher education and re-entering college have different needs and concerns from first time college students. UT Tyler has created an orientation program specifically for transfer students and re-entering students to welcome them to UT Tyler and prepare them for life as a Patriot.
When is New Patriot Orientation for transfer students?
Transfer students can select between the following two sessions:
- Friday, May 31
- Monday, August 19
Will I be getting anything in the mail?
All transfer students who have been officially accepted to UT Tyler will receive a postcard regarding orientation once registration is open.
May I bring family members or other guests with me to New Patriot Orientation?
Yes, we hope you will. You may include them with your registration.
Do I need to register in advance for New Patriot Orientation?

Will I be advised during New Patriot Orientation?
No, you will not be advised during New Patriot Orientation. We recommend that all students who have questions about their schedule, classes, or advising contact their department's academic advisor for an appointment as soon as possible.
Is New Patriot Orientation mandatory?
New Patriot Orientation is not mandatory, but we highly recommend that you attend.
What will I do at New Patriot Orientation?
New Patriot Orientation will provide you with an opportunity to learn about the services and resources available at UT Tyler, meet your department advisors, tour the campus, and complete university business such as getting a parking pass and student id.

What is the schedule for New Patriot Transfer Orientation?
8:30 am – 9:00 am Check-In and Resource Fair
9:00 am Opening Session
9:10 am – 10:00 am Morning Sessions
10:15 am Meet Your College
11:15 am – 12:00pm Afternoon Sessions
12:00 pm Lunch (optional)
1:00 pm Campus Tour (optional)
All registered students will receive an email the week prior to the orientation. This email will include a detailed schedule, campus map, and information on where to go once you arrive on campus.
