Nobel-prize nominee Ray Perryman Ph.D. assessed UT Tyler’s impact on Tyler and all of East Texas in a recently completed report, “The University of Texas at Tyler: Enhancing the Economy and Quality of Life of the East Texas Region.” A highly regarded economist, Perryman examined the expanding impact of the region’s only comprehensive public university.
Comprehensive public universities, like UT Tyler, have the potential to enrich communities in broad and significant ways. The study found UT Tyler to be making an impact in four ways. UT Tyler is improving the quality of education at all levels, generating economic activity in the region, enhancing the health and wellness of East Texans, and is offering cultural and entertainment opportunities that improve the quality of life in East Texas. |

The Perryman Report on UT Tyler
The Perryman Group evaluated the economic impact of UT Tyler on local, regional, and state business activity.
