Campus Crime Alert
In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, timely warnings will be issued to the campus community when a crime or attempted crime occurs on campus, or in the immediate area around campus, that represents an ongoing threat to the campus community. Those alerts will be disseminated by methods including campus email, campus electronic bulletin board postings, postings on bulletin boards inside campus buildings, and in certain cases, text messaging. These messages will be issued by the Chief of Police and/or his designee.

The University of Texas at Tyler Police Department is investigating an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is issuing the following campus crime alert: On April 25, 2008 at approximately 1:30 a.m. victim states he was walking on Lake Drive between Patriot Village and Ornelas Hall near the nature trail. Victim stated an unknown offender came out of the woods and stabbed him and then ran back into the wooded area. Victim suffered what appears to be a knife wound to his lower abdomen. Nothing was taken from the victim and at this time there is no motive for the attack. The victim's description of the offender is as follows: Black male, early 20's, short hair, no facial hair, approximately 6’2 with a slender build and wearing baggy blue jeans and a white t-shirt.
