102 – Parking permit not properly displayed
103 – Parking in area not designated by permit
104 – Parking where prohibited by signs or markings
105 – Parking in area not designated a proper parking place
106 – Failure to park within lines of a designated space
107 – Parking or storing bicycle inside a building
Class B (Citation) $25.00 per violation
201 – Parking without a permit
202 – Displaying fraudulent or fictitious parking permit
203 – Altering parking permit
Class C (Citation) $35.00 per violation (moving violations)
301 – Driving on sidewalks, walkways, over curbs, on lawns or grass areas
302 – Failure to stop or disregarding a stop sign
303 – Leaving the scene of an accident
304 – Displaying expired license plates (moving vehicle only)
305 – Failure to show current drivers license (moving vehicle only)
306 – No Inspection Sticker/displaying expired Inspection Sticker (moving vehicle only)
307 – Failure to show proof of Financial Responsibility (moving vehicle only)
308 – Failure to yield right-of-way to pedestrians in crosswalk
309 – Illegal turn
310 – Parking behind barricades or in a barricaded area
311 – All other moving violations
312 – Exceeding posted speed limit
0-10 mph over - $35.00
11-20 mph over - $60.00
21 mph+ over - $100.00
Class D (Citation)
401 – Parking in a disabled parking space without authorized permit - $100.00
402 – Parking in loading zone/inner campus without authorization or in excess
of time limit - $25.00
403 – Parking in a fire lane - $50.00
In addition to these violations, University Police Officers MAY issue traffic citations for any violation as defined in the Texas Motor Vehicle Laws. Court Appearance citations are handled by the appropriate state or municipal court.
Appeal of Citation(s)
The University parking and traffic citations may be appealed within ten (10) business days from date of citation. All appeals must be submitted to the Parking and Citation Appeals Panel. The panel has the discretion of suspending or canceling parking privileges. All decisions of the Panel are final.
Penalty to Pay Fines
It is the responsibility of the registrant of the vehicle to clear any tickets with the University Police Department within ten (10) business days from the date of the citation, unless the ticket is appealed. Failure to pay within the ten (10) business days will result in the addition of a $10.00 late fee per citation and the University withholding a student’s transcript and blocking future registration.
