Fitness Class Descriptions

 

AerobicsIncrease your cardio with a bit of dance and step.  Burn calories also by toning muscle through weights and resistances bands.  You will get to work on your core and stability as a cool down.

Advanced Conditioning- 

A high-intensity work-out that focuses on cardiovascular endurance, strength development, and agility.

Beginning Aerobics—The perfect class for the beginner or the person who needs a quick workout.  This 30 minute session is a calorie-burning, fun time.  This low impact class is the first step toward getting in shape.

Beginning Toning—A class for a beginner or the person who needs a quick workout.  A 30 minute class that will involve low resistance training to tone and sculpt your body.  A great beginning step toward fitness.

Body ToneThis group toning class uses, dumbbells, resistance bands, body bars, step benches and stability balls to sculpt and tone your body into shape.  A great class for the beginner and advanced fitness enthusiast.

Core Crunch— A 30-minute class will turn that gut into a washboard stomach! This class focuses on the core which includes the abdominal muscles, obliques, and lower back. Combine this class with Joyride for an excellent cardio and toning hour.

Fitness SwimInterval training using the four competitive swimming strokes:  back stroke, breast stroke, butterfly, and freestyle.  This class is taught in our heated swimming pool (Jim and Bonna Bess Vaughn Recreation and Therapy Pool).  Drills, technique work, and lap swimming will help you become a better swimmer and be in better shape.

HIT—High Intensity Training—Sprint work, agility footwork, and explosion drills are just a taste of what’s in store for this class.  This is an awesome way to reach ultimate performance as fitness enthusiast.

Joyride—This 30-minute class will get your heart racing as you spin into shape. This class uses state of the art stationary bikes for a group cycling experience. Follow joyride with the Core Crunch class for an excellent cardio and toning hour. 

Jumpin—Grab your jump rope from grade school and melt away fat and calories.  This class is great for quickness and coordination as well as the best cardio workout ever.  Keep up with great music and improve your physical fitness in every class.

MMA Fitness—Mixed martial arts fitness is an awesome way to burn away calories and learn how to defend yourself safely.  You will be trained by mixed martial arts specialists to help you reach peak performance and fitness.

Pilates—The perfect class to tone, gain flexibility, and burn calories.  Pilates is great for your body alignment, strength, and increasing your energy.  Use your own body resistance to make your body a calorie burning machine.

RIPPED!—High intensity weight training for the serious fitness enthusiast.  This class will help gain muscle and power with proper repetitions and sets.  Traditional and non-traditional exercises will be performed to reach maximal performance.  Gain lean body mass, and lose body fat at RIPPED!

Salsa/Tango/ Merengue—Join us with some dancing with an added Latino appeal.  This is a great way to stay active and learn new dance moves of a different nation. 

Spinning—This full hour of group cycling will challenge you as you get an amazing workout. The class is taught on state of the art stationary bikes with beat pumping music. This exciting class is what you need get a good sweat going and get into shape. No coordination required!

Strength & Conditioning/Endurance Training/Advanced Conditioning This class is a combination of weight resistance and dynamic movements, with emphasis on core strength stability and balance. A perfect way to get in shape quickly, and to prepare your body for athletics, intramurals, half-marathons, or ultimate fitness.

Tai Chi—Enjoy a class of moving meditation, where the mind centers itself on each movement producing inner relaxation.  Tai Chi is orchestrated movements that take on the appearance of a dance of sorts.  A group class that the movements are performed at the same time.

Water Exercise—This group class is performing exercises in our pool, which is great during these hot days.  Exercises will include resistance training, water running, and full body exercises.  Perfect exercises with no impact on your joints.  Great for the beginner or advanced fitness buff.

Yoga—This class is a great way to increase flexibility, tone, and relax.  This class is great for beginners on up to advanced.  Energize yourself with an hour of Yoga.
