UT Tyler Recreational Sports
Paintball gives UT Tyler students a chance to get out on the field and experience an exciting game! The Patriot Paintball organization endeavors to involve a diversity of men and women in the sport.
Who Can Play
All UT Tyler students are welcome to participate in the many outings the organization takes during the semester. To some this may seem like a sport created for a particular group of individuals, but everyone can play and most likely enjoy paintball.
Does it hurt?
In all honestly, it does sting. Despite popular belief, it rarely leaves the horrible marks most people hear about. It is also considered one of the safest sports you can participate in. Most injuries occur from people not stretching before they play. As long as you follow the safety rules, you have nothing to worry about.
Where We Play
The organization's preferred field is located in Seven Points, about an hour and 15 minutes away. Whatz Up Family Fun Park features paintball and other family amusements including laser tag, an arcade and even go-karts! The staff at the field is professional and attentive to players' needs. For more information visit the Whatz Up Family Funpark website.
What to Bring
Most people think paintball is only played out in the woods, however there are several different forms of paintball and this field has every type.
Dress in layers to reduce the impact of the paintball and lessen the chance of a paintball breaking on you in the game (you are eliminated only if a ball breaks on you, not if it simply hits you). Baggy clothing is your best bet, especially big hoodies and loose-fitting pants (jeans are acceptable but not recommended). The paint is washable, but don't wear your finest clothing to the game. Also, a change of clothes is appreciated for the ride back to campus.
Other than that, all you need is money to pay for your rental or entry into the park.
The field has 2 different rental packages for players to choose from. In purchasing a rental package, you receive all the necessary gear (marker, mask, etc) and all-day air.
For those with their own gear, a simple entry fee covers access all day and unlimited air. The field only supports compressed air, so those with CO2 will need to rent a tank. Luckily it is a mere 99 cents to do so.
How to Get Involved
If you are interested in playing paintball with the organization, look for flyers around campus. You can also contact the organization via email at email@example.com
