Fitness Class Descriptions

Hard Core: A 30-minute class will turn that gut into a washboard stomach! This class focuses on the core which includes the abdominal muscles, obliques and lower back. Primary Instructor: Page Maly

Fitness Swim: Interval training using the four competitive swimming strokes: back stroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle. This class is taught in our heated swimming pool (Jim and Bonna Bess Vaughn Recreation and Therapy Pool). Drills, technique work and lap swimming will help you become a better swimmer and be in better shape. Primary Instructor: Bob Hepler

Group Mountain Bike Ride: Come out and enjoy our campus trails with a group of like-minded individuals. This class is geared toward individuals who feel confident in their bike handling skills. Bikes are provided if you do not have one. Primary Instructor: Chris Thompson

Living Well: Living well is a boot camp style class that meets four days a week in the PHE. The class is a combination of strength and cardio. Primary Instructor: Kayla Saul

PiYo: If you want to get strong but don't want to sit still, this rhythmic, dynamic, total-body workout is for you! With constant flow of moves set to upbeat and empowering music, you'll burn some serious calories while your build stability, strength and flexibility. The mantra is power. Moreover, this class is also great for those who have been dying for a program that's easy on your joints but delivers hard body results!! Primary Instructor: Reilly Pope

Power Yoga: If gentle stretching and peaceful thoughts are not your thing, then POWER Yoga may be for you. Join us for a vigorous combination of deep stretching, strength and even a little cardio. This is a tough complete workout! Primary Instructor: Bob Hepler

Spinning: Group cycling will challenge you as you get an amazing workout. The class is taught on state of the art stationary bikes with beat pumping music. This exciting class is what you need to get a good sweat going and to get into shape. No coordination required! Primary Instructor: Joe & Morgan Matthews

Intermediate Tae-Kwon-Do: Tae-Kwon-Do is a Korean martial art that focuses on powerful strikes and kicks as a means to improve physical fitness and develop self-defense skills. The art of Tae-Kwon-Do is most evident in its prearranged patterns called hyungs. A hyung is a set of offensive and defensive movements performed in a sequence against multiple imaginary opponents. Hyungs help to develop balance, speed, focus, timing, endurance and power. Primary Instructor: Amentahru Wahlrab

Yoga: The daily stressors of life can leave you feeling sluggish and stressed. This class will help you have more energy so you will be able to take on anything. This class is a great way to increase flexibility, tone and relax. This class is great for beginners on up to advanced. Primary Instructor: Lisa Cuvelier

Zumba: This upbeat, energetic and fun course will get you dancing to the beat. Latin inspired dance fitness cardio based routines feature interval training sessions where fast & slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Primary Instructors: Veronica Viesca and Neil Howard

Cize: The future of exercise is here. It's time to work your workout with CIZE LIVE, a revolutionary new dance workout. Unlike most cardio dance classes, this isn't just about shuffling your feet. Created by Shaun T and a team of professional choreographers, CHIZE LIVE will get you bustin' out full dance routines to the hottest music tracks. Primary Instructor: Neil Howard

Insanity: INSANITY is a revolutionary cardio-based total body conditioning program based on the principles of MAX Interval Training. By using MAX Interval Training, INSANITY pushes the participant to new training heights, resulting in more calories burned, faster results and a more efficient metabolism. INSANITY's interval training is the pinnacle of cardio training. Primary Instructor: Reily Pope

Turbo Kick: Turbo Kick is a mix of kickboxing and hip hop dance moves that gets your heart pumping. It is one awesome total body workout that is a great way for you to lose weight and improve your cardiovascular health. This is the newest class to the HPC fitness schedule. Meditation: Hearfulness is a way of living. It is simple and practical way to experience the Heart's unlimited resources. We reduce stress and increase focus through Heartfulness meditation thereby improving our health, relationships with others, increase productivity and bring balance into our lives. Primary Instructor: Gayathri Kambhampati
