TracDat

Welcome to the TracDat portal. This is the entry page to the TracDat database, which will be used to manage our institutional effectiveness and outcomes assessment planning processes.

Assessment is a major component of our SACS 2010 reaffirmation process, and there are several standards that relate to institutional effectiveness and outcomes assessment. However, the most important are Standards 2.5 and 3.3.1:

Standard 2.5 requires the University to engage in “ongoing, integrated, and institution-wide research-based planning and evaluation processes …” to demonstrate that we are meeting our stated mission. This means that we must have in place “a systematic, explicit, and documented process of measuring performance” against our mission statement across all units in the University.

Standard 3.3.1 requires the University to identify expected outcomes for its academic, support and administrative units and to provide evidence of improvement based on analysis of those results.

All units, whether academic, academic support or administrative, must have an outcomes assessment process in place that measures outcomes against the University’s mission statement and documents how the results of assessment have been used to improve teaching and services.

TracDat will take much of the drudge work out of the assessment  process by providing a system (basically, a relational database) for managing all of the unit plans and, more importantly, a reporting mechanism that links unit outcomes to the University’s mission statement.

Training on TracDat will be coordinated by the Institutional Effectiveness Workgroup under Lou Ann Berman.
