Interested in Becoming an SI Leader?
We recruit and hire excellent students to join the SI Leader team. To qualify, a student must have taken the class they intend to support and made an A in it (preferably here at UT Tyler), they must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher and must have the ability and desire to help other students deal with difficult course concepts.
Those hired must be able to attend the required training each semester, to attend the class meetings again of the course they are supporting, must be able to give 11 –12 hours per week to the job and be positive representatives of the program across campus.
Applications to become an SI Leader are accepted at two different times throughout the year: starting in November for spring positions and starting in March for fall positions. Because the extensive training that is required for these jobs happens prior to each semester, we generally do not hire new leaders once the semester has begun.
