"The pots in this exhibition reflect an ongoing dialogue with some familiar themes. I continue to explore the altered, thrown object as a response to the whimsical forms and juxtaposition of shapes and texture found in nature. I'm drawn to porcelain for the intensity it lends to line and color, as well as the permanence and purity it offers to the gesture of the form. Ultimately my primary concern is to make a beautiful pot that identifies the personality of my voice while addressing all the salient, formal issues of use and good sculpture. My ambition is for the work to strike a connection to another experience, thought, or emotion. This speaks to the potential of the functional object to initiate ritual and provide special meaning to an everyday experience."
