Dee Buck

"Vase"

Stoneware, Wood-fired, 10" x 7" x 5"

"The forms of my pottery are simple, made to serve the intended function of the piece. The surface texture of the clay is glazed only by the wood ash that collects on the ware during the wood firing.

Through my work I am attempting to preserve the techniques of the potter's craft and also the humanistic qualities this craft brings to some of the goods we use in our everyday life. I view my pottery as aesthetically complete only when it is put to use in one's home. There it becomes part of the daily cycle of living and gains significance in its contribution to that cycle."
