"Fish Bowl"

Stoneware, Wood-fired, 4.5" x 16"

"I am committed to making functional clay vessels. Clay is my vehicle for perpetual journey, arriving is an end, continuum is the goal. Clay gives me life, I give clay life. I make thousands of pots every year and must make large volumes of work for evolution to occur at all. I know no other way. The training I have had encouraged restraint and careful consideration of all aspects of working. The foot, belly, glaze, clay and firing. This restraint has produced continuity in my work while making change slow. Is this good? Is it bad? It does not matter: it IS. Above all, being true to my nature of working is most important. To commit to an "ism" is to become a crystal, fixed and changeless. My desire is to continue the journey, continue the exploration."
