"In my utilitarian pottery I wish to create an atmosphere of generosity, playfulness and celebration. Similar pieces do not precisely match one another because I view each object in a set as an individual artwork and give each one specialized attention in its creation. I want each article I make to reflect the dynamic nature of something living, breathing, even moving. The fanciful added sprig and slip decorations allow a variety of combinations and narratives to unfold within each different piece. Upon successive uses, one may discover different motifs. Though my work may daunt the casual user, it is functional at its core."
