The PhD Program in Human Resource Development is designed to prepare
researchers and practitioner leaders for a rapidly changing and
culturally diverse United States population and workforce. The
demographic shifts occurring today at unprecedented rates are
changing the face of our communities and organizations. These shifts
present challenges to Human Resource Development professionals who
work in constantly changing businesses, industries, education,
government, healthcare, and non-profit organizations. The educational objectives of the PhD in Human Resource Development are to prepare graduates to successfully perform in realms of leadership and research related to the field. The core courses of the PhD Program in Human Resource Development provide the advanced theoretical and research framework for students. The Business Academy (a partnership of UT Tyler HRD scholars and business practitioners linking practice and research for the purpose of advancing organizational performance improvement through developing and unleashing human expertise) serves as a unique and critical mechanism for achieving the program objectives.
