The 2+2 Articulated Surveying & Mapping Emphasis allows students to complete an Associates degree in Surveying & Mapping and then transfer it towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology. Students may finish the general education "Core Curriculum" at UT Tyler or transfer Core Complete from another college or university. A student must be Core Complete before enrolling at UT Tyler or s/he will then have to follow the Core Curriculum from UT Tyler.

Finishing the four year degree at UT Tyler allows students to meet one of the state requirements before taking and passing the exam to become a registered professional land surveyor. Most students finishing the 2+2 articulated degree pass on the first attempt.
