  • Be a Spring 2019 graduate of a Texas ECHS
  • Have a minimum of 50 college credit hours
  • Be a Texas resident
  • Have been admitted to UT Tyler for Fall 2019 by March 1st, 2019
  • Intend on earning a baccalaureate degree from UT Tyler
  • Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1st, 2019
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 for college hours completed

Application Process

All of the materials listed above are required for a complete application packet. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Recipients will be notified via email, so please encourage students to check their Patriot e-mail often.

AFTER ADMISSION TO UT TYLER, STUDENTS SHOULD ONLY USE THEIR OFFICIAL UT TYLER PATRIOT EMAIL ACCOUNT, NOT PERSONAL OR HIGH SCHOOL EMAIL ACCOUNTS!

A student who is chosen to be a part of the GTF Scholars Program will be awarded a $2,000 per year grant from the Greater Texas Foundation ($1,000 Fall and Spring semester). Students who are eligible for the GTF Scholars Grant, MAY also be eligible for the Texas Grant and are encouraged to apply for outside scholarships.

Award Requirements and Renewal

  • Students must submit final high school transcript with graduation date by July 15, 2019
  • Students must submit college final transcripts by July 15, 2019
  • The GTF scholar should strive to graduate from UT Tyler in 2 years (4 semesters); however, the GTF Grant may be renewed for an additional year to complete a baccalaureate degree.
  • Students must complete 15 credit hours per semester, unless the degree plan prohibits the 15 hour requirement for some reason. Documentation is required from your UT Tyler Academic Advisor.
  • All course work must be applicable to your degree plan
  • Submit the FASFA on or before December 1st each year after the initial award
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 better
  • Continue full-time progression through fall-spring or fall-spring-summer semesters
  • Attend GTF Scholars’ Kick-Off scheduled for each Fall 2019 orientation session
  • Actively participate in and complete all requirements of the GTF Scholars Leadership Academy
  • Comply with advice of the GTF Scholars Director
