Veterans Resource Center

PTSD

We take PTSD and suicide very seriously in the VRC. As long as this office is in existence, we will do everything in our power to ensure the well-being of our veterans. Transitioning is hard enough. Let us help guide you. There is zero excuse for a national average of 22 suicides a day. Our office is filled with workers who have deployed and know what you are going through.

If you need a place to crash, come crash. If you need a place to vent, come vent. If you want to be around other vets, come hang out. This is your place.

We have free counselors here at The University of Texas at Tyler for any student with an active student I.D. card. Our veterans counselor, Jahn Quattlebaum, is a veteran himself and hangs out in the Veterans Resource Center for five hours every Thursday, if anyone is interested in visiting with him. Jahn makes appointments with veterans through the UT Tyler Student Counseling Center. Many veterans here at UT Tyler have gone to Jahn for military or personal related issues. Every veteran who goes to Jahn makes another appointment for the next week - he is “just that good.”

Jahn also holds office hours on Thursdays from 12-1700 in the Veterans Resource Center.
