Prevention Education

Mission - to increase awareness of the negative consequences of substance abuse and to assist in making responsible decisions in regards to alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use. Alcohol/drug abuse referral assistance is provided to students through Wellness and Prevention Education Services and the Student Counseling Center to locate treatment settings that will accommodate individual needs.

DID YOU KNOW?

• 81% of UT Tyler Students choose to stay away from tobacco

• Over 95% don't use illicit drugs

• 74% choose to drink less than 5 alcoholic beverages if they drink

• 69% always use a designated driver if they have been drinking

• 87% eat before and/or during drinking

• 75% avoid drinking games

• 85% did not experience any negative consequences as a result of drinking
