Long Distance Tutorials
The UT-Tyler Writing Center is designed for face-to-face tutorials, in which, we believe, the best writing instruction takes place. Sometimes, however, it is impossible to make it in for a live session: your car breaks down, your babysitter cancels, or you’re under the weather. Maybe you’re enrolled in a distance-learning course, and you can’t physically come to campus. In such instances, you can follow the procedure below to receive long-distance tutoring.
1. Phone us at 903-565-5995 to set up an appointment.
2. Prior to your appointment, e-mail your paper to the Writing Center. We prefer that you attach your paper as a Word document, but you may also "cut and paste" it to the body of the email (this will cause formatting to be lost). Our e-mail address is utwritingcenter@gmail.com.
3. At the designated appointment time (please keep in mind that we operate in Central Standard Time), you will again phone us and we will begin the tutorial. All phone tutorials will be conducted in the same manner as face-to-face tutorials. Your draft will not be read prior to your appointment. Be sure to have a copy of your original draft on hand.
4. All long-distance tutorials are limited to one 30-minute session per client per week.
