Welcome to The University of Texas at Tyler!
Since 1998, when I joined UT Tyler as its president, this university has grown tremendously. Our enrollment and the number of degrees awarded have more than doubled in the past 15 years. Our main campus has changed, too, as acreage, buildings, dormitories, athletic facilities and parking have been added to accommodate our growing enrollment.
Our commitment to the success of our students has grown even more. No Texas public university surpasses UT Tyler's efforts to fully educate its students, help them graduate and find fulfilling careers. We are fortunate to have the finest faculty to be found anywhere. Our professors come from great institutions all over the world and have one thing in common – their love of students. In addition to our superb faculty, we are thankful that we benefit every day from a strong student body, forward-thinking administrators, devoted staff and a generous philanthropic community.
UT Tyler is a comprehensive institution offering traditional classes as well as hybrid and online courses in our traditional College of Arts and Sciences, six professional colleges (Business and Technology, Education and Psychology, Engineering, Nursing and Health Sciences, Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy and University College) and The Graduate School. We are proud to have the R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center which brings outstanding Broadway musicals, hit plays, great lectures and other cultural opportunities to campus.
We are also proud of UT Tyler's three campuses. The main campus is on 259 beautiful acres located in the southeast corner of Tyler. The Palestine Campus, in Anderson County, and the Longview University Center, just 46 miles east of Tyler, provide excellent academic programs with greater flexibility in scheduling classes and reduced travel expenses for East Texas students.
I encourage you to make a personal visit to our campus and then you'll understand what sets us apart from other institutions. In every way, we are a premier institution providing a private-university experience at public-university prices.
