Northeast Texas CHW Coalition

Established out of The University of Texas at Tyler Health Science Center's-Center for COmmunity and Rural Health Education in 2013, the Northeast Texas Community Health Worker (CHW) Coalition strives to provide opportunities for professional development through peer support, access to continuing education and training, and to promote the unique roles of Community Health Workers and Community Health Worker Instructors.

The Coalition aims to empower and provide better communication and collaboration among CHW Instructors in the Northeast Texas region to better serve and educate our communities.

Goals of the coalition are:

1. Provide organizational peer to peer support to facilitate events which define CHW roles
2. Provide educational opportunities to make available educational and community resources.
3. Advocate the unique role of a CHW by promoting recognition among health professionals and the public value of a CHW to connect with various stakeholders at the state and national levels.
