Student Identification Policy
Program Student Identification Policy
Students are required to wear the UT Tyler identification badge at all times on university
property and while on clinical rotations off site. Do not clip your ID badge to your
waist, except
where not able to wear around your neck or on your white coat.
UT Tyler ID Badges may be required for access to certain buildings or areas. In such
cases, card
readers will be available to monitor/allow access.
There is a fee for replacement of lost ID badges.
Program Name Tags: Are worn in any clinical setting [OSCEs, clinical rotations](except during procedures and ORs), PA students are required to wear the name tag shown below which states student’s full name followed by PA-S on the first line, and “Physician Assistant Student” on the second line. It will be worn on the white lab coat/scrubs immediately above and centered over the left breast pocket.
This nametag is authorized on the short white lab coat or scrubs and will be worn
in any clinical
setting.
You may also be required to wear a hospital name badge/ID. Pinned or magnetic name
tags
are not worn with hospital scrubs in the OR or special procedures, but you should
attempt to find
masking tape or sterilizer tape and write your name and Physician Assistant Student
on the tape
and wear the tape on your left upper chest.
Students should introduce themselves as a Physician Assistant Student. In no situation may a
student infer they are a licensed or practicing Physician Assistant, medical student,
or other
health care professional. It is against the law in the state of Texas to impersonate
a licensed or
practicing Physician Assistant.
