Earning a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree at The University of Texas at Tyler is a 120-credit-hour generalist program and is the first step toward a successful career in social work.
Upon graduating from the UT Tyler BSW program, you will be prepared to successfully:
- Develop and demonstrate critical thinking skills in all social work aspects.
- Apply theoretical frameworks to assess and evaluate social work interventions.
- Analyze, formulate, design, evaluate and influence social policies affecting organizations and communities.
- Engage, assess and evaluate individuals, families, groups and organizations within the confines of social work interventions.
Through unique partnerships and opportunities within the East Texas community, you will gain valuable experience and networking prior to graduation to further your professional and personal growth.
The UT Tyler BSW program will seek CSWE (Council on Social Work Education) accreditation, which will allow students completing the program eligibility to sit for the LBSW (Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker) exam. Upon graduation, you can further your career and apply for the MSW (Master of Social Work) degree.
