Quality Enhancement Plan

We are excited to announce our first QEP workshop on September 30th, 2022 from 9:30 am - 11:30 am with Dr. Ashley Finley, Vice President of Research and Senior Advisor to the President of American Association of Colleges and Universities.

Come hear her discuss, "Wicked Problem-Solving: A Distinctive Learning Approach for Student Success In and Beyond the Classroom".

At a time of enormous change in higher education and the world, it is more important than ever for students to possess the skills that will enable them to address contemporary, enduring, and even unforeseen problems. This reality has challenged higher education to more intentionally align curricula in ways that prepare students to meet the complexities of evolving labor markets, communities, and social issues. The opportunity in taking on this challenge, however, is to provide learning experiences that empower students to seek their passions, pursue their questions, and own their learning. The capacities and dispositions needed to tackle problems, both known and unknown, are at the root of the concept of “wicked problems.” In the first half of this workshop, we will unpack “wicked problems” to examine how an emphasis on cross-disciplinary skills and core practices can promote equity, inquiry, application, and discovery. In the second half, we will focus on the practical strategies that authentically link wicked problem-solving with classroom practices and assessment so that learning outcomes become actionable, rather than figurative.
