Quality Enhancement Plan

Colleges and schools across The University of Texas at Tyler are gearing up to enrich student learning opportunities as part of the new Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), “Real-World Problem-Solving.”

Selected after months of input from faculty, staff, students, alumni and the local community, the QEP is designed to enhance real-world problem-solving experiences in all majors to prepare students for success after graduation. Problem-solving is one of the most sought-after skills across all careers in the rapidly evolving professional world.

The QEP is planned to begin in the 2022 fall semester, with each undergraduate degree program creating or enhancing curriculum focused on developing real-world problem-solving skills. Campus events also will be enhanced to include problem-solving opportunities.

“The Quality Enhancement Plan will be enormously important to our graduates as they pursue their professional and personal life goals,’’ said Mary Helen Fagan, PhD, associate professor of management and a member of the QEP Steering Committee. “UT Tyler faculty have always worked hard to help students develop problem-solving skills, but the QEP provides a unique opportunity for faculty, students, staff, alumni and the community to work collaboratively to take learning experiences to a deeper level.’’

The QEP is part of UT Tyler’s reaffirmation of accreditation process with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commissions on Colleges (SACSCOC). Visit the QEP main page for more information and ongoing updates.
