Student Life

Campus Culture and Living

Getting involved in campus activities is the best way to get the most out of college life. With more than 85 student organizations on campus, chances are you’ll find a few that are a fit.

But there’s even more across campus to match your interests. The University of Texas at Tyler is home to six national Greek-letter fraternities and sororities which offer ample opportunities to develop leadership skills and form friendships that last a lifetime.

And, you’ll want to take advantage of campus facilities like our beautiful, modern Herrington Patriot Center, the largest building on campus and a centerpiece of student life.

Our Patriot Days are a highlight of student events. Featuring live music, games, comedy and a talent show, this weeklong celebration enhances school spirit and brings students together.

We also offer a full sports program with our athletes competing in the NCAA Division III, American Southwest Conference. UT Tyler’s recreational sports program includes fitness classes, aquatics, intramural sports and outdoor adventures.

Students also enjoy informal activities such as disc golf, billiards and hiking on our beautiful nature trails. There’s an activity for everyone on the UT Tyler campus—or you can head into Tyler and around East Texas for restaurants, shopping and entertainment.

UT Tyler is a great place to get involved and let your talents shine. Check out our calendar of upcoming events and see for yourself why UT Tyler is your best choice to earn your degree, enjoy your college years and prepare for your bright future.
