Freshman Advising - Charlotte Thompson
I earned both my Bachelors of General Studies and my Masters of Education here at The University of Texas at Tyler so I was extremely happy to join the Academic Success Staff as an Academic Advisor in 2010. While I have taught both Elementary and Junior High I find College students to be the best! I have extensive experience with First Year Experience programs and teaching study skills workshops. I currently advise our entering first time freshman Pre-Nursing majors, and Health Studies and Kinesiology majors as well as Medical Technology majors. My passion is to help students identify the most efficient pathway to realizing their dreams.
My hobbies are reading, drawing, and traveling. My favorite author is Stephen King: the scarier the better. I have adopted this point of view from the great poet Ralph Waldo Emerson "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, and to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." The Academic Advisors purpose is to serve our students.
