Biography

Dr. James Koukl received his B.S. Degree in 1969 in Medical Technology (Clinical Laboratory Sciences) from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois. After serving four years of active duty in the United States Air Force from 1969 to 1973 he completed a Ph.D. in Comparative Pathology from the University of Missouri School of Medicine, Columbia Missouri. After two years post doctoral experience in the Hemostasis-Thrombosis Laboratory under Lamont Gaston, M.D. in the Department of Pathology, University of Missouri School of Medicine, he joined the faculty at The University of Texas at Tyler in 1979 as the Director of the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Program. After 22 years as Director of the CLS program Dr. Koukl stepped down to take a faculty position teaching biology and chemistry and to begin a new direction of research.
