Commencement Registration

Register through MarchingOrder starting Friday, Oct. 3rd at 10:00am CST.

  • If you do not plan to participate, you must indicate this on the Commencement Registration through MarchingOrder or you will not be listed in the digital Commencement Program.
  • You are welcome to make as many changes as you would like until it closes on Monday, Oct. 31st, 2022 at 11:59pm CST.
    • Any changes made to your Commencement Registration through MarchingOrder after this deadline will have to be adjusted at Student Check-In on the day of the Commencement ceremony.

Regalia/Attire

UT Tyler regalia is required to participate in the Commencement ceremonies. Graduating students are responsible for obtaining all commencement regalia including caps, gowns, Master's/Doctoral hoods, cords and stoles and bringing them to commencement unless otherwise notified by the Office of the Registrar or their College.

All regalia orders are processed through the Barnes & Noble UT Tyler Bookstore, 903.566.7070.

  • Online Ordering through Herff Jones:
    • Opens: Thursday, Sept. 1st, 2022

  • In-store Purchases:
    • Opens: Friday, Aug. 5th, 2022
    • Closes: Saturday, Dec. 10th, 2022
      • Sizes may be limited, so we encourage you not to wait to purchase.
  • PURCHASE Doctoral Regalia:

Candidates are welcome to wear these types of regalia items during the Commencement:

  • Medals or medallions presented by a UT Tyler College or from the UT Tyler Honors Programs specifically for completion of degrees.
  • Stoles from a UT Tyler recognized student organization/society, or from a UT Tyler College or Department.
  • Honor cords from a UT Tyler recognized student organization/society, or from a UT Tyler College or Department.
  • Undergraduate Latin Honors will be reflective as of the end of the Summer 2022 term.
    • These honors are awarded to candidates are based on the following two criteria.
      • 45 or more for-GPA credit hours earned at UT Tyler
      • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
        • Summa Cum Laude: 3.90 - 4.00 GPA
        • Magna Cum Laude: 3.70 - 3.89 GPA
        • Cum Laude: 3.50 - 3.69 GPA
    • Undergraduate students earning these honors will receive the applicable honor cords during the student check-in process at the Commencement ceremonies.

These ceremonies will be outdoors and there will be quite a bit of walking. Please dress appropriately for this formal event and wear appropriate footwear.

There will be no storage area for your belongings, please bring only what you can carry on your person. The UT Tyler staff and faculty will not take possession of or be responsible for any of your belongings.

Guest Ticketing

You will reserve these within the Commencement Registration through MarchingOrder.

  • If a guest, including children and infants, does not have a ticket they will NOT be allowed to enter the event.
  • Round 1:
    • Opens: Wednesday, Nov. 2nd, 2022 at 10:00am CST
    • Closes: Monday, Nov. 14th at 11:59pm CST
      • Any unreserved tickets will be evenly allotted to the students that had already reserved their tickets for the Round 2 ticketing.
  • Round 2:
    • Opens: Wednesday, Nov. 16th at 10:00am CST
    • Closes: Monday, Nov. 28th at 11:59pm CST
      • Any unreserved tickets will be available to be reserved for the Round 3 ticketing on a first come first serve basis until all tickets are reserved.
  • Round 3:
    • Opens: Wednesday, Nov. 30th at 10:00am CST
    • Closes: Saturday, Dec. 10th at 2:00pm CST

It is the candidates responsibility to ensure all ticketing information is relayed to their guests.

Friends and family members unable to attend, are welcome to view the live streaming broadcast of the ceremony from the UT Tyler Facebook page.

GradPass

You will access this within the Commencement Registration through MarchingOrder.

  • Your GradPass will be released to you on your MarchingOrder portal on Monday, Nov. 21st at 10:00am CST.
  • We will utilize the QR Code on your GradPass to check you in at the Student Check-In
    • You can provide this either on a smart phone or print it out.

Student Rehearsal (Optional)

We will be hosting an optional student walkthrough rehearsal on Tuesday, Dec. 6th, 2022, please see your designated college times below:

Parking

Parking lots will open 1.5 hours prior to the ceremony start time and will be available for guests and students on a first come first serve basis.

The students will proceed through two stations on the way to lineup:

  • Check-In
    • GradPass Verification
    • Obtain your name card
    • Summer and Fall 2022 undergraduates who achieve Latin honors status, per Summer 2022 credit hours and GPA will be able to pick up their honor cords.
  • Pre-Ceremony Photography
    • Photos are taken of each candidate before line-up and as they cross the stage. Purchase is not necessary. To view, proof, and purchase photos, students may contact Flash Photography at https://www.flashphotography.com.
  • Students will then proceed to the lineup areas, where UT Tyler faculty marshals and staff will be available to assist you.
