Contracts

Who can sign?

Business Contract Signature Delegation

The UT System Regents’ Rules and Regulations require that all contracts be approved by the chief administrative officer or officially authorized delegate (ref. Rule 10501). Only an individual with a written delegation of authority from the President of UTT may execute and deliver contracts on behalf of the University.  A University contract without an authorized signature may be invalid and unenforceable.

Individuals without delegation of authority should not sign contracts that involve the University in any way. If an employee without delegated authority executes a contract/agreement involving the University, the employee may be personally bound by the contract (not the University).

If an employee has questions regarding their authority to execute contracts on behalf of the University, the employee should contact the Office of Legal Affairs.
