            Teaching Interests:

Dr. Huq’s teaching interests are primarily in structural engineering, however, he has taught classes in numerous areas of civil engineering. Classes include: mechanics of materials, structural analysis, concrete and steel design, design timber structures, civil engineering materials, code & specifications, leadership-professionalism & public policy, civil engineering construction management, senior seminar, construction structural systems I and introduction to construction estimating. Dr. Huq has a strong commitment to teaching and improving engineering education.

            Research Interests:

Dr. Huq’s research interest is development of analytical and/or numerical methods to assess and/or optimize dynamic (ocean waves, blast, seismic loaded) structural systems. He is also interested in collaborative study of the development of structural health monitoring and condition assessment techniques for structural systems.

            Research and Professional Highlights

            Industry Experience:

Dr. Huq’s industry experience ranges from roles as design engineer leading to senior consultant in the design, build, transportation and installation of ‘deep water floating’ and ‘shallow water fixed’ platforms for the oil and gas industry. His experience also comprises of structural integrity assessment & remediation of aging platforms and product development (novel platforms).
