Dr. Hull joined The University of Texas at Tyler in the fall of 2018 upon the completion of his doctoral studies, which focused on the design of immersive learning systems. Dr. Hull has passionately pursued his interest in democratizing adult education since the mid-1990’s, when he left a successful career in corporate finance to co-found a startup company that collaborated with the Institute for the Learning Sciences at Northwestern University. His company pioneered the use of multimedia-enabled blended learning for Wall Street and graduate management education.
Dr. Hull’s teaching and research interests intersect at the three interfaces of self-directed learning; team-based collaborative learning; and self-regulated learning, as described in this award-winning paper. You can access Dr. Hull’s academic blog here.
Dr. Hull is a native of Kansas City, by way of Chicago, Beijing, and Hong Kong. He is married, loves baseball and enjoys vacationing in Spain.
