Biography

Winter J. Smith, Pharm.D., BCPS received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy and completed a PGY1 residency at Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas, TX followed by a PGY2 residency at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.  Prior to joining the faculty at the Fisch College of Pharmacy (FCOP), she served on faculty at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy and Texas Tech School of Pharmacy for a total of 13 years.  She also served as a pharmacy residency program director for 9 years and director of residency programs for 2 years.  In practice, she is an inpatient internal medicine clinical pharmacist at Medical City Plano hospital in Plano, TX.  She teaches in the areas of infectious diseases and drug information in various courses in the FCOP Pharm.D. curriculum.  She also serves as primary preceptor for advanced pharmacy practice experiences.  She is a member of the NAPLEX review committee and an ASHP practitioner surveyor for residency accreditation.  Her current research and scholarly activities are in the areas of infectious diseases and pharmacy residency training.
