Biography

Winter J. Smith, Pharm.D., BCPS received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy and completed a PGY1 residency at Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas, TX followed by a PGY2 residency at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.  Prior to joining the faculty at the Fisch College of Pharmacy (FCOP) in 2018, she served on faculty at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy and Texas Tech School of Pharmacy for a total of 13 years.  She also served as a pharmacy residency program director for 9 years and director of residency programs for 2 years.  In practice, she is an inpatient internal medicine clinical pharmacist and PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program Coordinator at Medical City Plano hospital in Plano, TX. She teaches in the areas of cardiology, drug information, infectious diseases, and therapeutic drug monitoring in various courses in the FCOP Pharm.D. curriculum.  She also serves as primary preceptor for adult medicine advanced pharmacy practice experiences (APPEs).  She is involved nationally in professional service activities related to entry-level pharmacist competency assessment and pharmacy residency training and accreditation. Her current research and scholarly activities are in the areas of pharmacy student education and competency assessment.
