Matt Brinton is a Director of Development for the University of Texas at Tyler. In
his role, he works to connect alumni and donors with their passions through the College
of Education & Psychology, the College of Nursing & Health Sciences, and Patriot Athletics.
He began his work in higher education nearly 15 years ago and has worked in a variety of positions promoting and championing student success and alumni engagement. Throughout his career he has worked in alumni relations, student activities, campus programs & events, internship placements, and in a variety of additional professional and volunteer positions. He has worked with local, regional, national, and international professional organizations to stay connected to the field and up to date on best practices across higher education.
Matt completed undergraduate degree work at the University of Northern Colorado and holds a BS in Sport and Exercise Science with an emphasis is K-12 Physical Education. He continued his studies at the University of Denver where he earned an MA in Higher Education with an emphasis in College Student Development. He is currently pursuing a PhD from the University of Northern Colorado in Higher Education Administration. Matt lives in Tyler with his wife Trisha, who is also a higher education professional, and their middle-school aged child. He noted, “My family and I are excited to join this vibrant East Texas. I look forward to helping the great things that are happening here at UT Tyler make big impacts on the larger community.”
