Paula Anthony is the vice president and chief information officer for ETMC Regional Healthcare System, a $2 billion integrated health delivery system headquartered in Tyler, Texas. She is responsible for the planning, acquisition, operation, support and security of information systems and telecommunications services for all ETMC businesses and facilities. In 2011, Paula also assumed the role of CEO of HealthFirst, ETMC's $20 million health benefits solutions subsidiary, which serves over 50,000 member lives across Texas.

Prior to joining ETMC, Paula spent 10 years with Ernst & Young responsible for the firm's Southwest Health Care Information Technology practice. She has also worked for healthcare information systems vendors in various capacities. Paula has a BA from Wesleyan University in Connecticut, an MBA from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio and a PhD in human resource development from The University of Texas at Tyler.

Paula is a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives, serves on the board of directors for the Healthcare Information Systems Executive Association, and recently completed a term on the board of directors for the American Hospital Association's Solutions Division. This year, she was appointed to the Texas Health Services Authority board of directors by Gov. Greg Abbott. She is also an active member of both the College of Health Information Management Executives and the Health Information and Management Systems Society.

Previously, Paula served on the board of directors for the state's Emerging Technology Fund Regional Center for Commercialization and Innovation, and participated on the High Tech Task Force of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. In 2009, Paula was asked to testify before the Department of Health and Human Services on her recommendations related to the implementation of electronic health records in rural and community hospitals.

 

  

 

Dr. Stephen C. Bushardt

Stephen Bushardt has served on the faculty of a university for over 38 years as department chairman, graduate director and as a professor. In addition to being a professor of management at The University of Texas at Tyler for the past six years, he is a professor emeritus of management at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Stephen has published over 75 manuscripts, many of which have addressed issues within the healthcare field. He has been an active consultant in the healthcare industry, working with physicians, hospitals and health clinics with a focus on enhancing organizational effectiveness.

He currently teaches in the Online AP and Executive MBA Healthcare Management Program at UT Tyler. His teaching and research have focused on organizational behavior with emphasis on critical thinking communication, motivation, leadership and organizational effectiveness. During his career, he has received awards in teaching as well as in research. His current research interest is on organizational culture and career development issues.

 

 

 

 

Mr. Carroll Rogé

Carroll Rogé is vice president of marketing and planning for the East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System. He is responsible for the marketing outreach of the 12-hospital organizations and helps uphold its mission of improving quality of life in East Texas.

ETMC operates and promotes nearly 40 clinics, a regional network of rehab and wellness facilities and home health serving 40 counties. The system operates the regions only designated Level I trauma center, a large multi-county ambulance system and three Air 1 emergency helicopters.

In his marketing role, Rogé plans and implements efforts to promote ETMC medical services. In his planning role, he gathers and analyzes data to help the executive leadership team plan for the future.

Rogé received his MBA from UT Tyler, where he has taught as an adjunct lecturer since 2001. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and has served previously as a retail marketing director and a technical writer. He is very involved in the community and has served as board president of Leadership Tyler.

 

 

 

Kerri Camp

Kerri Camp has over seven years of industry experience in healthcare administration, marketing consulting for healthcare organizations and has served on multiple healthcare organization boards. She is a faculty associate in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and was the keynote speaker for ACHE East Texas chapter in September 2016 on Creating Value in the Patient Experience—Applying the Drivers of Consumer Satisfaction and Loyalty. She is a coauthor of a healthcare textbook scheduled to be released in summer 2017, Healthcare Marketing—Strategies for Creating Value in the Patient Experience.

Kerri earned her PhD from Texas Tech University, an MBA from Golden Gate University and her BBA from Texas A&M University. Her primary research focus is healthcare management issues, and she has published in the Journal of Retail and Consumer Services, Family Business Review, and Journal of Applied Management and Entrepreneurship, among others. She has been an invited columnist for The Daily Sentinel, a media consultant for local CBS and NBC news, and a guest speaker for numerous state and local organizations.

 

 

 

 

Dr. Sherry Jackson

Sherry Avery Jackson is an associate professor of management at The University of Texas at Tyler, where she teaches in the areas of operations management and management science. Currently she is teaching in the online MBA programs.

Her research interests include quality management, sustainability, and social capital within the context of buyer supplier relationships.

She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a master of accounting degree and the University of Texas at Arlington with a PhD in operations management. 

She has taught at The University of Texas at Tyler, University of Texas at Arlington, Baptist University, Oklahoma State University, and the University of Oklahoma. Before she entered academia, she was a senior manager in the service industry.

She loves to camp, swim, read and play with her 10 grandchildren.

 

 

 

 

Gus Gordon 

     

Gus Gordon is a Professor of Accounting at The University of Texas at Tyler. He is professionally certified as a CPA, CIA, CLSSS.  He has published five books and over 70 articles and proceedings.  His primary research interests are organizational performance, including continuous improvement, and leadership.

 

He has various types of non-academic and entrepreneurial experience.  He founded a manufacturing company in Mexico that grew from 0 employees to 700 in 15 years.  The company became a sophisticated ISO 9000-certified factory where he applied the management accounting and continuous improvement techniques that he teaches.  He sold the company in 2014.

Tammy Cowart


Tammy Cowart is an Associate Professor of Business Law and the Director for CBT Graduate Programs at The University of Texas at Tyler. She has taught Business Law and Business Ethics classes in the College of Business and Technology since 1999. She developed an M.B.A. course in business law and a business ethics course which has been approved by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy for CPA candidates.

Her research interests include ethics and compliance and intellectual property law, and her research has been published in the Journal of Business Ethics and the American Business Law Journal. Professor Cowart has received the Provost’s Excellence in Teaching Award, Faculty Service Award, and Outstanding Student Organization Advisor Award.

She earned her law degree from Texas Tech University and has practiced law in a variety of areas including tort law, business law, and employment law. Professor Cowart is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Smith County Bar Association. She has served on the board of a number of community agencies, including the Literacy Council of Tyler, Smith County Chapter of the American Heart Association, and Smith County Young Lawyers Association.

Marina Astakhova

Marina Astakhova received both her MBA in Finance and PhD in Human Resources Management and Advanced Statistics from Kent State University. She earned her BA and MA in Education in Russia.

Marina has spent 10+ years teaching at the University level both in the US and abroad.

She worked with TACIS, the program sponsored by the European Union, where she assisted local entrepreneurs with business plan writing and evaluation. She also worked as an HRM specialist at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. She provides consulting for profit and non-profit U.S. organizations.

Marina stays current in HRM, Organizational Behavior and Leadership research. She regularly publishes in high-quality management journals and presents at the leading management conferences. Her research focuses on the issues of fit between an individual and work environment (e.g., organization, job, team and supervisor), as well as questions related to harmonious and obsessive work passion and employee engagement. In four years since her Ph.D. degree, she has published 17 articles, 4 book chapters and received multiple national research awards and recognitions.

Vivek Pandey


Vivek Pandey serves as a Professor of Finance at the University of Texas at Tyler.  He has been employed at the University since 1999.  His terminally qualifying degree is a Doctor of Business Administration (Finance) from Mississippi State University.   Additionally he maintains professional certifications of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM).

His teaching experience encompasses a wide array of finance courses, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  Vivek maintains an active research agenda and has published numerous research articles in scholarly journals, both in his chosen field of finance and in related disciplines.  Some of his research publications in finance have appeared in impactful journals such as The Financial Review, Financial Services Review, Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, and Journal of Financial Planning.

A native of India, Vivek is a naturalized U.S. citizen.  His hobbies include reading, workouts and numismatics.
