The University of Texas at Tyler is one of the most affordable schools in the UT System. And we’re making it even easier for you to afford a UT education by offering merit and need-based scholarships and grants.

Funds are limited, so apply to take advantage of these resources for fall 2023!

The 2023-24 Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA opens October 1 and is required for some of the opportunities.

Available Opportunities

  • Honors Scholars Scholarship

    $10,000 a year; renewable for up to four years

    For high-achieving, first-time-in-college students with an unweighted GPA of 3.75 or higher. Apply by December 1, 2022. No FAFSA required.

  • Patriot Scholarship

    Up to $5,000 a year; four years of eligibility

    For first-time-in-college students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. December 1 priority deadline, March 1, 2023 final deadline. FAFSA required.

  • Academic Excellence Scholarship

    $2,000 a year for four years

    For first-time-in-college students ranked in the top 25% of their high school class with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Students who are homeschooled or from non-ranking high schools and international students are eligible with a minimum 3.5 GPA. December 1, 2022 priority deadline, March 1, 2023 final deadline. FAFSA not required.

  • Transfer Presidential Scholarship

    $2,000, renewable for one consecutive academic year following the initial award

    For students who have completed 30 college credit hours at time of admission, with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Apply by May 1, 2023. FAFSA not required.

  • Patriot Promise Program

    Amount based on financial need, renewable for four years.

    For incoming Fall freshmen and transfer students with a household AGI up to $80,000 and a minimum college GPA of 2.5. Be admitted and complete FAFSA by May 1, 2023. FAFSA required.

  • Greater Texas Foundation Scholarship

    $2,000 a year, on average

    For spring 2023 graduates of a Texas Early College High School (ECHS) with at least 24 college credit hours and a minimum college GPA of 2.5. FAFSA required.

  • Federal Pell Grant

    Amount based on financial need, renewable each semester

    For undergraduates who have not earned their first bachelor’s or professional degree. No deadline. FAFSA required.

  • TEXAS Grant

    Amount based on financial need, renewable each year

    For undergraduates who reside in Texas. No deadline, but funding is limited. FAFSA required.

  • New Graduate Fellowship

    $1,000 a year, renewable

    For graduate-level students, including Texas and non-Texas residents. Apply by June 1, 2023 via the Office of Graduate Studies.
