Why did you choose to attend UT Tyler?
Once I decided against law school, my advisor (Dr. Marcus Stadelmann) advised me to get another minor. I then chose HRD and realized that there were many business aspects that aligned with political and legal aspects. I decided it would be a good fit for me. I also chose to stay in the masters program here at UT Tyler because it was ranked 12th out of 20 for best online programs in HR, and due to my GPA, my GMAT score was waived. Another benefit is that I can finish the program in a timely manner.
What are your career goals and how does your graduate program support them?
My career goal is to become an SHRM-CP (certified professional). I would love to work in the training and development department of a company and be involved in the research and development that goes into creating these training programs. I am also involved with the SHRM group on campus as the Director of Recruitment/Student Relations. SHRM is a large, well known organization and there are many opportunities within that organization that could help with my future career.
What do you like most about UT Tyler?
My favorite thing about UT Tyler is how much the faculty and staff care about the students. I have never had a professor here who was not willing to help me. If you are willing to put in the work, the professors are willing to give you critiques or extra practice homework. Everyone I have ever come across at UT Tyler has wanted to see me (as well as other students) succeed. Also, the campus being beautiful is a plus as well.
